Garriock Bros. Ltd. had been involved with quarrying operations on mainland Scotland for years before they purchased the Sullom Quarry in 2007 retaining all staff from previous owners.
In June 2009 Garriock Bros. Ltd. increased their Quarrying operations in the Isles with the purchase of the leases for a further three quarries from Hanson Aggregates. This expanded both the companies Aggregate and Concrete operations as well as introducing concrete block and pre-cast production.
Currently the company operates the following Quarries:
- Sullom Mine (Aggregate & Concrete sales)
- Brindister Quarry (Aggregate, Concrete & Concrete Block sales)
- Vatster Quarry (Aggregate)
- Ward Hill (Quarry currently closed)
This gives excellent coverage across the isles for all our quarry products.
Aggregate can be collected direct from Brindister & Sullom or can be delivered via the haulage side of the business.
The different quarries also provide a choice of aggregate colour with Sullom providing both grey and decorative red chips and Brindister supplying a red/brown chip.
Ready Mix Concrete can be delivered in 6,8 or 11 cube loads and can be ordered along with any further equipment required such as Hiab trucks with concrete skips, power screeds etc from our plant hire departments.
The quarries can also produce bespoke pre-cast concrete products made to order.
